Job Description - Health Educator - Waukesha County
Job Summary: The Health Educator provides substance use prevention education services to youth, families, and community members in counties served by Elevate, Inc. The Health Educator works in schools and with other community organizations to facilitate substance abuse prevention services. Using evidence-based strategies and programs, the position’s responsibilities include educating youth and community members to make healthier decisions related to high-risk behaviors.
Office Location: Elevate, Inc., N169 W21005 Meadow Lane, Jackson, WI 53037 Primary Services Area(s): Washington and Waukesha Counties Pay Range: $18-$19/hour Hours: Full Time, Hourly/Non-Exempt, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm (flexibility required) Benefits:

Essential Functions:
Coordinate with other Health Educators to present the Too Good for Drugs curriculum with fidelity and professionalism in the classroom.
Under the direction of the Youth Services Program Manager, collaborate with schools, organizations, and other community members to provide information and awareness on alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
Serve as Elevate’s representative at health fairs and awareness events, including promoting the Hidden in Plain Sight, Escape the Vape, and other learning experiences (events may include occasional evenings and weekends).
Serve as a member of the Prime for Life instructional team and teach Prime for Life in both virtual and onsite settings.
Coordinate with the Health Education team to implement alcohol and tobacco sales compliance check programming.
Document all program activities as required and submit program reports according to the agency’s established guidelines.
Assist in gathering statistical records for evaluation, reporting, presentations, fund development, and marketing purposes.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and/or support in implementing alcohol and drug-free social or community service activities.
Provide support to other Youth Services programs, as needed.
Assist in identifying public policy initiatives to advance our mission.
Aid in implementing other environmental strategies in the community.
Prepare program activity reports for evaluation, fund development, and marketing purposes.
Participate in agency events.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
Bachelor's degree in education, Public Health, Community Health Education, or related field preferred.
Classroom management experience preferred.
Knowledge of outcome-based evaluation, prevention theory, and substance abuse preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment.
Skilled in public speaking and facilitating multimedia presentations.
Competent in relationship building with a variety of audiences.
The ability to demonstrate cultural humility.
Ability to collaborate and work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Relationship-building skills and experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Applications.
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for Elevate’s mission.
Travel and Other Requirements:
This position will require travel throughout the counties served by Elevate, Inc. (primarily Washington and Waukesha County).
Staff in this position must have a reliable vehicle and valid vehicle insurance.
This position requires working in middle schools and will require some early morning starts to accommodate school schedules.
This position serves community events, which may occasionally require working weekend and evening hours.
Pre-employment criminal background check, employment background check, driver license, proof of education, and drug testing screening required.
Must be willing to have training in the administration of Naloxone within the first six months of hire and be willing to administer Naloxone in the case of a suspected opioid overdose.
