Health Information Specialist

Illuminus is seeking a full-time Health Information Specialist to support our growing team. The individual will work with our home health community to manage their electronic health records. 

This position is 100% onsite.

Summary

• Maintains and actively promotes effective communication with residents/patients/clients and family members / personal representatives.
• Responsible for maintaining a positive image of the entity in the community, keeping in alignment with our mission, vision, and values.
• Maintain a current knowledge of all applicable local, State and Federal regulations governing health records.
• Maintain and analyze all health records, following organization policy and procedures as well as applicable laws and regulations.
• Manage the process for all provider orders following organization policy and procedure as well as applicable laws and regulations.
• Will attend mandatory in-services.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• High School education or equivalent.
• 1 year of health care experience or training.
• Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Commitment to quality programs and services for all individuals.
• Excellent communication and human relation skills.
• Ability to relate well to the residents/patients/clients, family members/personal representatives.
• Ability to maintain and protect the confidentiality of information.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions and exhibit flexibility when needed.
• Strong keyboarding and filing abilities.
• Ability to maintain and protect the confidentiality of information.
• Some understanding of medical terminology preferred.
• Ability to adapt to change.
