Job Location (Client Site): Olathe Medical Center (OMC): part of University of Kansas Health System - Quivira Campus, Pavilion A. 12000 West 151st Street, Olathe, KS 66062

Schedule: Full-time | Typical Workweek: Monday–Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, occasional work after hours, weekends & emergency situations.
 

The Opportunity

Vanguard Resources, Inc., (VRI), is actively recruiting for a fulltime, salaried Healthcare Facilities Maintenance Supervisor OR Manager, in Olathe, KS at our client site. This is a hands-on ‘working’ maintenance supervisor/manager; level depending on experience, who will support all maintenance needs for this state of the art, 34-bed, specialty care hospital (new facility– doors opened 2024). The Supervisor/Manager will be responsible for the overall facilities maintenance of the campus ensuring that services offered to the client is of superior quality. The Maintenance Supervisor/Manager needs to be comfortable with performing any/all maintenance-related actions needed, in this hands-on, working role.  The Supervisor/Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, coordinating and controlling the activities of the Engineering Department functions which are necessary in maintaining the physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems, utilities and grounds of the hospital in an operative and safe working condition, and to ensure that hospital and departmental policies and procedures relating to assigned projects are followed and that work is carried out in compliance with regulatory agency guidelines - Supervisor/Manager will also be responsible for the campus facilities management regulatory compliance requirements and documentation. 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • As the scope of position and team grows, Supervisor/Manager duties will include the hiring process of the team, professional development within the team, communication with staff members, performance reviews, and personal responsibility for the Facility team
  • Organizing and managing daily activities and events, project and move management, office standards and policies and procedures, and management of vendor contracts
  • Managing outside vendors, performance and quality level monitoring, and researching new vendors
  • Provides routine and project leadership and coordination with involved parties and regulatory bodies.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance of all equipment.
  • Timely filing and securing of permits, licensing,      certificates and requires reporting is essential.
  • Responsible for effective communications at all levels.
  • Regulatory Compliance including emergency response plans, compliance with all local regulatory requirements, function as the      after-hours contact for property management, and training of office emergency procedures; will be responsible for maintaining accurate records and follow up on actions. Interfaces and coordinates routinely with Safety, Environmental Services, Security, Emergency Management and other departments.
  • Purchasing and Reporting including managing and tracking all financial reports, budgeting, hiring, attendance, team      development, payroll, maintain inventory, service reports and accomplishments
  • Champions a safe, clean and organized work area!
  • All other duties and projects assigned by Client and VRI leadership.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 2 years management experience with increasing levels of responsibility within facilities services or other service related field preferred
  • Acute healthcare maintenance experience preferred
    • Exposure to maintaining regulatory compliance documentation & requirements
  • Must successfully pass criminal background check.
  • Must complete and/or take all required health screenings and vaccines.
  • OSHA 30 or 10 certification - a PLUS, but not required, or open to quickly obtaining, if hired
  • Must have a valid/unexpired state issued driver’s license; in good standing with a clean driving record; along with reliable transportation to get to and from work       
  • Organizational skills is a must
  • Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.  
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines while making sound decisions in stressful situations
  • Strong customer service skills required with the ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to identify and develop strong talent that compliments and contributes to the client’s environment
  • Experience in working with outside vendors, accounts payable/receivable, and budget management preferred
  • Proficiency using the Internet and Microsoft Office programs including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook
