Healthcare Protection Officer

Pay: $40.00 to $43.00/hr

On-Site Role

Travel required:

Travel on an occasional basis with some overnight stays. Must have reliable transportation and be available for unplanned travel.

Blackstone Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Healthcare Protection Officer for their Healthcare Security Client in Northern California.

JOB SUMMARY:
As part of the Regional Security Services team, the Healthcare Protection Officer (HPO) is responsible for the physical and personal security for members, staff, and visitors within the health care client facilities. This includes responding to emergency situations, preserving order, and enforcing regulations related to personnel, visitors, and premises. Protects staff and property from theft or damage, or persons from hazards and interference, including the potential for violence in the workplace. The HPO will partner with security and clinical leaders to establish a unified care team to identify and mitigate security and workplace violence risks. To learn more visit our website:

Facility Safety & Incident Response
Respond to crimes in progress and take appropriate action
Make private person arrests when necessary and within policy
Lead Code Gray response teams
Lead de-escalation efforts
Provide a professional security presence
Act as a safety ambassador for the facility
Provide campus safety recommendations
Liaison with administrative and clinical leadership
Establish and maintain a good working relationship with local law enforcement

Prevention of Workplace Violence (PWV)
Serve as the facility subject matter expert on the Prevention of Workplace Violence
Respond to and investigate incidents of workplace violence
Provide PWV training to all staff
Stay current on training and trends in the PWV field

Threat Management
Lead and support threat management investigations
Mitigate potential threats through collaboration with key stakeholders and the Threat Management Team

Training
Provide Prevention of Workplace Violence training to staff
Train and evaluate new officers

Required Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated success working in a highly regulated work environment
Must be able to accurately analyze situations in a highly complex organizational structure and reach appropriate decisions based on informed judgment
Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
Must effectively manage subordinates
Strong interpersonal skills
Must demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism to handle sensitive and confidential information
Demonstrated ability to set priorities and respond to changing demands from multiple sources in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated ability to follow through, meet deadlines, anticipate requirements, and build relationships with minimal oversight
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and employ strong reasoning skills
Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment with minimal supervision
Demonstrated comfort level with internal systems or demonstrated ability to learn new systems
Excellent time management and organization skills
PC skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Must present as approachable, open, professional, and positive
Must be willing to travel on short notice and during non-standard working hours

Required Experience
3+ years: Security, military, or law enforcement-related experience.

Required Education
HS Diploma or GED

Required Qualifications
Ability to pass physical aptitude test (PAT) which may include timed push-ups, sit-ups, physical agility assessment, and a life-sized dummy drag.
Valid Drivers License
California Bureau of Security and Investigative Service (BSIS) Guard Card

Minimum Qualifications at Entry:
Be 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED.
Have a reliable and functional means of communication (i.e., cell phone)
The legal right to work in the United States
Possess a valid government-issued drivers license or state-issued I.D.
An active state-issued guard card
Successfully pass the clients pre-employment screening process (Drug Test, Health Screen, Criminal Background Check)
Ability to properly wear an N95 mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines while on-site.
Complete healthcare competency assessment and training on defusing assaultive behaviors
