Description
BASIC FUNCTION:
Primary function is to perform duties relative to heat treating and quality. Load and unload furnace and age ovens. Responsible for incoming and outgoing parts and inventory.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Responsible to ensure corporate integrity within their area of expertise.
· Responsible for implementing the philosophy of total quality and the use of quality control (statistical problem solving and customer service) techniques within their position.
· Responsible for determining and receiving on-going training required for quality performance in job function in this position.
· Responsible for correctly following all procedures relative to heat treating, quality and all certified, non-certified products, specials, and non conforming product.
· Responsible to understand and correctly use all manuals, process books and computer programs used in the heat treating, quality and shipping and receiving processes.
· Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area.
· Responsible for general overall housekeeping.
· Responsible for maintaining work force morale.
· Responsible for communicating with others and participating in a group/team environment.
· Responsible for attending prescribed training sessions.
· Responsible for working various shifts and being “On-Call” as required.
· Responsible for OSHA compliance
FURNACE OPERATOR/INSPECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Responsible for loading and unloading of all furnaces and age ovens.
· Responsible for processing of parts in accordance with prescribed methods.
· Responsible for monitoring all temperature controls and taking prescribed corrective actions.
· Responsible for maintaining shift log book and CPR Data Base.
· Responsible for monitoring and maintaining of quench water level and temperature.
· Responsible for completing shift changeover in full. This includes the shift change checklist.
· Responsible for initial disposition, tagging, recording, and reporting of nonconforming material in compliance with quality procedures.
· Responsible for inspection of as-cast, in process, and finished material in accordance with customer specifications and divisional procedures.
· Responsible for determining if material meets specifications (completing appropriate documentation) and directing material to appropriate work cell or area.
· Responsible for documentation accuracy regarding material requirements and divisional requirements, (i.e. inspection of finished products).
· Responsible for start-up and shut-down procedures.
· Responsible for set-up and monitoring of all temperature controls of in-load thermocouples and equipment.
· Responsible for customer service duties, as they relate to production.
· Responsible for inspection of incoming and outgoing customer parts and containers, inspecting for damaged material, assisting in proper inventory counts, where applicable, and reporting discrepancies.
· Responsible for process certifications as directed by Quality Assurance.
· Responsible for tagging all new material or specially packaged material with container identification and/or special handling/processing requirements.
SHIPPING AND RECEIVING RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Responsible for the accuracy of shipping and receiving paperwork.
· Responsible for entering data from shippers and receivers into a database.
· Responsible to perform truck loading and unloading.
· Responsible for correct preparation of shipments.
· Responsible for correct creation of bills of lading using both the automated and manual systems.
· Responsible for performing all required documentation, product inspections, and piece count verifications.
Responsible for physical inventory procedures for both customer product and company supplies.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS / ABILITIES:
· Must be willing to work flexible hours.
· Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds.
· Demonstrated ability to make decisions using deductive reasoning and logic.
· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
· Must be willing to work toward attaining company goals and objectives.
· Must be willing to work in a shared responsibility and group setting.
· Must be capable of learning multiple tasks and willing to stay abreast of changes in tasks as well as learn new tasks.
Must possess a positive attitude; be dependable, reliable, self-motivated, and trustworthy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or GED.
· General forklift experience.
Two years of industrial experience.
3rd Shift – 12AM-8AM
2nd Shift – 4PM-12AM
