Job Description - Heavy Civil Estimator

Job description

Generate detailed take-offs based on accurate readings of plans, geotechnical reports, requests for proposals, and related documents.

Review bid package documentation including plans and specifications to determine scope of work and required estimate contents.

Develop and distribute RFP's and RFI's as necessary.

Compile takeoffs and build estimates using HCSS HeavyBid software for review with the estimating team.

Correspond with clients, customers, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other entities to submit a complete bid package.

Create initial project schedules for proposal submission upon client request.

Assist in transitioning successful estimates/awarded projects to operations teams, involving buyout and setup operations during the initial phase.

Maintain estimating logs and process-tracking measures.

Negotiate with clients, subs, and suppliers as needed.

Function as a valued member of the management team within our organization.

Desired Qualifications & Skills

2+ Years of Experience in Site Development or Heavy Civil Construction.

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant field of study.

Ability to work independently or in teams to meet project deadlines.

Driven and capable of meeting project deadlines.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to read and scale civil engineering plans accurately.

Understanding of quality and accuracy importance.

Proficiency in/ability to learn: HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK, Adobe Pro or Bluebeam Review, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office Suite.
