Heavy Duty Truck Service Advisor

Job Summary

Scranton Dodge is seeking a high-performing Heavy Duty Truck Service Advisor who thrives in a fast-paced commercial service environment. This role is ideal for a strong communicator and closer who can confidently sell major repair jobs while effectively leading and managing technicians to maximize productivity and customer satisfaction.

This is not an entry-level advisor role. We are looking for someone who understands heavy-duty service operations, can handle high-dollar estimates, and keeps the shop running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Customer Management

• Act as the primary point of contact for heavy duty and commercial customers
   
• Accurately diagnose customer concerns and translate them into clear repair recommendations
   
• Confidently present and sell large repair estimates (engines, transmissions, driveline, electrical, emissions, etc.)
   
• Build trust with customers through transparency, follow-up, and consistent communication
   
• Maximize repair order value while maintaining ethical service practices
   

Technician & Workflow Management

• Dispatch work efficiently to technicians based on skill level and workload
   
• Actively manage technician productivity, efficiency, and morale
   
• Monitor repair progress, prioritize jobs, and ensure deadlines are met
   
• Reduce downtime and comebacks through proper repair planning and communication
   
• Work closely with parts and management to keep jobs moving
   

Operational Excellence

• Write clear, accurate repair orders and documentation
   
• Ensure warranty and internal policies are followed
   
• Maintain CSI standards while balancing shop throughput and profitability
   
• Support shop leadership with daily workflow and problem-solving

Qualifications & Experience

• 3+ years of experience as a Service Advisor (heavy duty or commercial strongly preferred)  
• Proven ability to sell high-dollar repair work 
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing or directing technicians  
• Solid understanding of heavy duty truck systems and repair processes  
• Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills  
• Ability to remain calm, decisive, and professional under pressure  
• CDK or similar DMS experience preferred
