Heavy Equipment Mechanic QC, White Sands Missile Range, NM

Technica LLC seeks to recruit for the position of Heavy Equipment Mechanic Quality Control (QC) supporting the White Sands Test Center (WSTC) mission at White Sands Missile Range, NM.

Position Summary:

• Perform initial, in-process, and final inspections of equipment to ensure maintenance actions meet required standards prior to return to service.


• Validate reported faults and conduct independent troubleshooting to ensure accurate diagnosis before maintenance begins.


• Serve as the middleman between customer, maintenance lead, and mechanics/workers, ensuring clear communication of requirements, faults, and repair status.


• Review and verify all maintenance actions comply with: Technical Manuals (TM), Maintenance Allocation Charts (MAC), Manufacturer specifications


• Conduct final acceptance inspections, ensuring equipment is safe, operational, and mission ready.


• Perform parts research and validation using GCSS-Army, technical manuals, and manufacturer data to ensure correct parts are identified and ordered.


• Coordinate with supply to order, track, and verify parts availability for maintenance operations.


• Review and validate maintenance documentation and GCSS-Army work orders


• Ensure all work orders are accurately completed, documented, and closed out in accordance with contract requirements.


• Identify maintenance deficiencies and initiate corrective and preventive actions.


• Monitor quality trends, rework, and recurring faults and report findings to the Maintenance Lead.


• Provide technical guidance and support to mechanics to ensure proper repair procedures are followed.


• Ensure adherence to all safety, environmental, and operational procedures.


• Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of GCSS-Army, Technical knowledge, and DA forms.


• 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance.


• 2+ years' experience in quality control, inspection, or maintenance oversight.


• Working knowledge of hydraulic, diesel, electrical, and mechanical systems used in GSE.


• Experience reviewing and approving maintenance documentation and work orders.


• Ability to interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, and maintenance specifications.


• Strong understanding of quality assurance processes and compliance requirements.


• Certification in ASE preferred, heavy equipment repair, or mechanical maintenance.


• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).


• Experience working with GCSS-Army and DA maintenance documentation.


• Strong background in troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.


• Must have an EPA 609 Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 63/91 Series.


• Defense contracting experience in maintenance operations and quality control.


• OSHA safety training or equivalent preferred

Requirements:

• Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license.


• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.


• Must be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or equivalent.


• Must be a U.S. citizen or a U.S. permanent resident and can obtain NACI and CAC Card eligibility.


• Must pass background screening and drug testing requirements.


• Must be able to work in field and industrial environments, including extreme weather conditions (heat, wind, rain, snow, and blowing sand).


• Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods, including a minimum of two continuous hours.


• Must be capable of climbing equipment and working at heights up to 10 feet.


• Must be able to lift and move items up to 50 pounds.


• Must always wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing duties.


• Must be available to work extended hours, weekends, or alternate shifts as mission requirements dictate.

• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and background checks related to the position.
