Job Description - Heavy Equipment Operator

Abernethy Contracting is looking for Heavy Equipment Operators to join our team in the Charlotte area. If you have real seat time in an excavator and/or dozer, take safety seriously and can adapt to a changing work site, this is right up your alley.
The ideal candidate will enjoy solving problems, working as part of a team and working towards a common goal.

Responsibilities

Safe and efficient operation of equipment to meet production targets.
Comply with all company and site-specific policies and procedures.
Perform routine inspections, safety walk-arounds, and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
Maintain equipment in good operating condition and reporting of maintenance requirements.
May perform other job site duties as required based on job site needs.
Respect and follow leadership and directions from assigned foreman.
Treat co-workers, subcontractors and customers with respect and professionalism.

Requirements

Previous experience operating heavy construction equipment, including excavators, dozers and off-road trucks.
Sense of urgency and ability to respond to changing situations.
Ability to adapt, prioritize and complete projects in a changing construction environment.
Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
The ability to travel within 60-75 miles of greater Charlotte Metro Area.
Pass a pre-employment background screening.
