Mission Support Logistic Services (MSLS), a sub-contractor to Akima Global Logistics, LLC is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Heavy Truck Driver to support logistics operations by transporting materials, equipment, or cargo across regional routes. This position requires strict adherence to DOT regulations, workplace safety policies, and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate heavy trucks (Class A or B) to transport materials to and from assigned locations
Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections
Safely load, secure, and unload cargo, ensuring compliance with weight and safety regulations
Complete required paperwork, including delivery logs, inspection checklists, and route reports
Maintain communication with dispatch regarding delays, hazards, or emergencies
Comply with all federal, state, and local traffic laws and DOT regulations
Follow company protocols for vehicle maintenance and report issues immediately
Assist with minor maintenance or site-specific tasks as needed
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Class A (preferred) or Class B
At least 5 years of commercial driving experience
Strong knowledge of DOT driving regulations
Reliable and punctual with strong attention to detail
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. regularly
Ability to make multiple loading and unloading trips per day
Ability to operate a forklift (training provided)
Capable of climbing in and out of the truck cab and cargo area multiple times per shift
Able to sit for an extended period of time per day depending on route
Must be able to bend, kneel, or stoop as required for securing loads or performing inspections
Expected Working Conditions:
Miles per day varies, depending on assignment – typical day consists of only transporting/loading and unloading materials on site
Long periods of driving with occasional breaks; route-dependent
Exposure to varying weather conditions
Safety Requirements:
Strict adherence to all DOT and OSHA safety guidelines
Required use of PPE when on-site or outside the cab
Required use of steel or composite toed boots
Participation in regular safety meetings and training
Reporting of all incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions immediately
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Must pass a drug screening (DOT-compliant)
Must pass a background check
Must be able to obtain a site or facility badge (may include fingerprinting and government clearance depending on site)
