Job Description - Hematology & Oncology Physician

JOB OVERVIEW

• Job Title: Physician – Hematology/Oncology

• Job Type: Locum Tenens

• Location: Beckley, WV

• Service Setting: Outpatient Clinic & Inpatient Call

• Coverage Type: Clinical + Call

• Coverage Period: August 1, 2025 – 1 Year

• Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

• On-Call Shift Schedule: 1 in 3 inpatient hospital call (includes weekends)

• Call Type: Rotational

• Call Ratio: 1:3

PATIENT INFORMATION

• Patient Demographics: Adults (18+)

• Patient Volume/Census: 15 patients/day

• Admissions: Yes (inpatient call weeks)

• Rounding: Yes

• Phone Consults: Yes

• Case Mix: Hematologic and oncologic conditions

FACILITY INFORMATION

• EMR System: Cerner

• Office Equipment Available: Standard oncology clinic and procedure equipment

• Support Staff Available: Nurses, CMAs, APPs

• Reason for Coverage: Full-time locum coverage

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE

• Hospital Privileges Required: Yes

• Temporary Privileges Available: Yes (for clean backgrounds without large gaps)

• Credentialing Timeline: 45–60 days

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Not specified

REQUIRED PROCEDURES

• Bone marrow biopsy

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Licenses: Active West Virginia license required (or willing to license)

• Certifications: Board Certification in Oncology, BLS, ACLS, DEA

• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years preferred

• Other Qualifications: Oncology fellowship required; clean background required for credentialing

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide outpatient oncology care Monday through Friday

• Participate in inpatient call rotation every 3rd week

• Perform bone marrow biopsies

• Collaborate with nurses, APPs, and other support staff at the Cancer Center

• Maintain timely and accurate documentation in Cerner EMR
