Job Description

Performs the general duties of the Herb Department Herbalist; preparing orders, receiving herbs and products as necessary, maintaining an orderly Herb Department, and other various duties assigned by the Herb Department manager. 

The Herb Department functions together as a team. From time to time you may be asked by the Herb Department Manager to pitch in and help with a job that is not normally part of your job description. For example preparing capsulation orders and at times shipping when needed. 

Responsibilities - (not limited to)

• Preparing orders

1. Mix custom herb mixtures for phone-in, mail-in & Online. This includes being aware of any herbs or Bhasmas that need to be adjusted for heavy metal toxicity; age or infirmary of client.
2. Assemble products orders and shipping

• Communicating with all team members using google workspace platform

1. Answering general questions about herbs and products
2. Answering questions / correcting problems with orders
3. adjusting invoices for phone customers and clients if requested..

• Assist with stocking and bagging as needed and time allows
• Maintaining an orderly Herb Department

1. Keep station clean, organized and well stocked, pulling from the organized back-stock area.
2. Keep in mind herb stock; and ordering schedule so as not to be out of herbs unintentionally.
3. Keep workstations clean and functional
4. Other Herb Department cleaning as needed

• Various duties assigned by the Herb Department manager

Qualifications:

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Completion of the Ayurvedic Institute's Ayurvedic Studies Program is desirable but not mandatory.
• Some herbal knowledge and experience is desirable but not mandatory.
• Desire and ability to work as a team member and communicate effectively with other employees and the public is mandatory.
• Maintaining a courteous and tactful demeanor when speaking with people on the phone/google meetings and other employees is mandatory.
• The ability to work in a stressful demanding environment is mandatory.
• Computer literacy is mandatory; able to follow directions with programs. 
• The ability to successfully manage several tasks at once and work with interruptions is mandatory.
• Familiarity with Vedic teachings and traditions of India and Ayurveda is desired.

Physical Requirements - (not limited to)

• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 30 lbs.
• Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, crawl, reach above and below shoulders, repetitive arm and wrist use, climb ladders and stairs, and walk on uneven surfaces.
• Must be able to see and hear.
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing. 
• Must be able to work around moderate noise level.
