JOB SUMMARY:
The Health, Environment, Safety & Sustainability (HESS) Officer ensures Celebration Key’s
compliance with all relevant policies and procedures. This role supports HESS leaders through daily
inspections and reporting policy breaches.
The HESS Officer is integral to the Carnival Corporation Global Ports and Destinations Development
(GPDD) team, overseeing the development and operations of six Carnival-owned Caribbean destinations.
Celebration Key will feature world-class amenities including pristine beaches, pools, swim-up bars, water
activities, food and beverage options, retail, and cultural exhibits.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Monitors and evaluates HESS protocols, policies, and procedures in port operations to ensure
compliance with occupational health, public health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Monitors chemical management procedures at the port facility.
• Monitors solid waste management and wastewater management procedures.
• Collects and maintains data for HESS records.
• Collects and tests samples of potable, recreational and waste waters. Uploads related data for
review and action.
• Conducts routine pest control measures.
• Identifies and resolves HESS hazards.
• Assists with incident response, planning and protocols.
• Participates in HESS audits and collaborates on remediating findings.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by Management.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma with prior Laboratory work experience required
• At least 2 years of environmental safety work experience required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health, Science, Safety or related field is a plus
SKILLS & SPECIFICATIONS:
• Knowledge and understanding of policies, procedures, internal and external regulations to ensure
adherence
• Ability to walk and stand in sand and sun for extended periods
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in the use of computer business applications
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Great multitasking abilities
• High-level of attention to detail
• Excellent customer service skills
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with employees and guests
• Ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the
ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present
information and respond to questions from guests, managers, and co-workers
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to work in an outdoor environment
• Must be physically fit
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Fast-paced, dynamic environment with a need for flexibility in working hours, including weekends,
evenings, and holidays
• May be required to work variable shifts
WORK CONDITIONS:
• Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with significant safety/health hazard potential
• Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or
operate lab equipment and/or small-scale machinery
• The role may require standing for extended periods and significant walking throughout the site
