What will you do?

A Family Partner is a person who articulates the lessons that they’ve learned from his/her own personal life experiences parenting a child/ youth with social/emotional or behavioral challenges and has specialized training to assist and support families raising children/ youth who experience social/emotional, developmental, behavioral, substance abuse, or mental health concerns. A Family Partner collaborates with child and family serving systems and family and youth originations to improve family outcomes and strives to eliminate stigma and discrimination.

Responsibilities:

• This position will travel to our clinic in Hickory, NC occasionally.
• Works one-on-one and maintains regular contact with the parent(s)/caregiver(s) in order to provide information and support throughout the care planning process.
• Attends meetings like the Child and Family Teams and Individualized Education Plan (IEP)meetings as requested by family and may assist the parent(s)/caregiver(s) in articulating the youth’s/family’s strengths, needs, ad goals to the HFW Facilitator and CFT
• Educates and empowers parents/caregivers about how to effectively navigate the child-serving systems for themselves and abut the existence of informal/community resources available to them; and facilitates the parent’s/caregiver’s access to these resources.
• Attends a weekly supervision to monitor adherence of the HFW principles.
• Possess a current, valid driver’s license and automobile with proof of auto insurance.
• Will complete all appropriate Federal and State background checks.
• Will maintain strict confidentiality according to all Federal and State guidelines and requirements.

Pay Rate? $35,000-40,000

What qualifications do you need? Bachelor’s Degree Applicants:

• Must possess degree at time of application.
• Degree must be in a related field of study (Human Services)
• Must have one-year, post-graduation, working with target population.

Associate’s Degree Applicants:

• Must possess degree at time of application.
• Degree must be in a related field of study (Human Services)
• Must have two years, post-graduation, working children/adolescents/transition age youth

High School Applicants:

• Must have diploma or GED at time of application.
• Must have a minimum of four years of experience working children/adolescents/transition age youth.

Experience Accepted:

• Must have lived experience as a primary caregiver for a child who has/had mental health or substance abuse challenges.
• Experience in navigating any of the child and family serving systems and teaching family members who are involved with the child and family serving systems (child welfare, education, behavioral/mental health, juvenile justice, school, primary care, etc.)
• LIFT experience
• Holds National Certification in Family Peer Support or is actively working on completing certification and is on track to complete Family Peer Support certification within one year of hire date.
• Family Peer Support is certified in the role of Family Peer Support in High Fidelity HFW or is in the process of completing certification process within one year of hire date.
• Minimum of one-year experience providing services with children/adolescents/transition age youth.
