General Purpose The High School Science Teacher is responsible for developing in each student an understanding of science according to our curriculum such that the student is both competent and confident in their understanding and application of chemistry. This role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about hands-on learning, lab-based instruction, and real-world application of science concepts.

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in science field, is required 


• No teaching license or teaching certificate required

• Intermediate knowledge of chemistry and related mathematics


• Safety issues related to science labs and investigations


• Methods of research in the sciences, including laboratory and research techniques and the use of associated technology


• History and philosophy of science


• Plans curriculum and instruction 


• Delivers effective instruction


• Manages classroom climate and operation


• Promotes achievement

• Atomic Structure


• Periodic Table

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (Science field preferred) with at least 36 semester hours in science courses


• Strong understanding of chemistry concepts and related mathematics


• Willingness to attend AP Chemistry training


• Prior teaching experience preferred but not required
  

A Colorado teaching license is not required for this position
