Herron Classical Schools operates two high schools – Herron High School and Riverside High School – and Herron Preparatory Academy, eventually serving grades kindergarten through 8th grade. Herron Classical Schools is incredibly proud of our network and our scholars. In these rankings, of which 17,655 schools throughout the nation were ranked, based on our performance on state-required tests, graduation, and how well we prepare students for college, we earned the following rankings:

  • Herron High School and Herron-Riverside ranked #1 and #2 Charter High Schools in Indianapolis.
  • Herron High School continues to be highly ranked since our first graduating class in 2010 and is currently ranked #316 in the nation.
  • Herron High School ranked #2 in the state for College Readiness.
  • Herron High School placed in the top 2% of public schools nationwide in the following:

o #2 in Indianapolis/Metro Area High Schools

o #5 in Indiana High Schools

o #73 in Charter High Schools

HRHS is seeking candidates for a Full-Time Spanish teacher.  

The Spanish teacher’s responsibilities include teaching oral and written Spanish, tailoring lesson plans to individual students or classes, and setting homework and assessments. You should be able to juggle a wide range of responsibilities including administrative tasks. To be successful as a Spanish teacher, you should be passionate about the Spanish language and culture. Outstanding Spanish teachers are energetic and able to inspire passion for the language in their students.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Meet and instruct assigned classes at times designated. 
  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
  • Together with students, set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media to differentiate instruction and meet student needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure connections across the curriculum.
  • Take reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. 
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules and policies. 
  • Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning student academic and behavioral progress.
  • Attend scheduled faculty meetings, professional development meetings, and other sessions as determined by the Administration and Executive Leadership Team. 
  • This includes Mandatory attendance at the annual Symposium (a day-long professional development determined by the administration).  The date of this event is listed on the Master Calendar.
  • Attend evening events that include but may not be limited to Parent Orientation, Meet the Teacher Night, Parent/Teacher Conferences, and Open Houses.  The dates of these events are listed on the Master Calendar.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

 Spanish Teacher Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Spanish language, literature, or an equivalent may be required.
  • Proven written and verbal proficiency in Spanish.
  • A teaching certificate or license may be required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Well-organized and able to handle multiple responsibilities.
  • Detail-oriented and resilient.
