Position Overview:
The Health Information Management (HIM) Scanning and Indexing Clerk is responsible for maintaining and organizing inbound patient medical records, medical documents, and forms, in accordance with legal and ethical standards. Duties include data entry, filing, scanning, indexing, collating, and organizing, as well as ensuring the confidentiality and security of sensitive patient information. HIM Scanning and Indexing Clerks must have strong attention to detail and knowledge of medical terminology.
Essential Functions
Proficient in the use of computers, peripheral hardware, and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and maintain patient privacy.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Collaborating with other departments and providers to ensure accuracy and completion of medical record entries.
Staying current with regulatory requirements related to medical records and patient privacy.
