Responsibilities *
Maintain accurate records of quality assurance and quality control for each completed project.
Perform grossing of tissue samples, knowledge of all aspects of all tissue types.
Paraffin processing of tissue samples.
Paraffin embedding/ OCT embedding.
Microtomy.
Staining / special staining.
Cover slipping.
Daily maintain paraffin tissue processor, paraffin embedding system and all staining set ups.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications *
An Associate's degree in relevant science and HT ASCP certification or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
0-2 years of experience.
Knowledge of all aspects of Surgical Pathology (i.e. grossing, microtomy, immunohistochemistry, special stains, electron microscopy, etc.).
Professional and collegial communication skills necessary to work closely with peers in an academic teamwork environment.
Receptive to and ability to adapt quickly to change.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Desired Qualifications *
Associate's degree, HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification.
Lean knowledge and application desirable.
Knowledge of School of Dentistry policies and procedures.
Work Locations
This position is located in the School of Dentistry at 1011 N University Ave.
Additional Information
***** This is a part-time/20 hours per week, 9-month term-limited positionwithapossibleextensionbaseduponperformance andavailablefunding.The pro-rated 50% FTE or 20 hours per week salary range is $24,000-$30,000
