Histology Technician/Technologist (Ht/Htl)- Per Diem

SUMMARY
Primarily responsible for prompt preparation and staining of microscopic sections from tissue blocks as selected by the Pathologist.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Completion of a recognized Histotechnology training program, resulting in an HT or HLT certification, is strongly preferred.
Must be able to operate scientific instruments.
Must be able to communicate and effectively exchange information with laboratory staff, nursing staff, physicians, and physician office staff.                                     

 Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology with at least one year of training and/or experience in high complexity testing; or an Associate's degree in a laboratory science or medical technology with at least two years training and/or experience in high complexity testing. Certification with ASCP, AMT, or another national registering body is strongly preferred.  Requires judgment including prioritizing tasks according to medical urgency, efficiency, and good guest relations skills.
