Histology Technologist - Leading Industry Pay

Pride Health is hiring a Histology Technologist to support our client's hospital facility in Detroit, MI. This is a 13-weeks contract role, with possible extension.

Job Summary:

Under limited supervision performs routine techniques on surgical, autopsy, and research tissue according to standardized procedures. Operates and maintains laboratory instruments and equipment required to perform analysis.

Duties:

• Cuts surgical, autopsy, research and neuropathology tissue using a rotary microtome.

• Embeds surgical, autopsy, research, and neuropathology tissue.

• Stains, coverslips and labels surgical, autopsy, research and neuropathology tissue.

• Under supervision, performs special stains according to standardized procedures.

• Maintains all equipment and instruments. May demonstrate work to help onboard others.

• Mixes and maintains all solutions including stains and special fixatives.

• Maintains and records all QC, CAP, QA instrument function and maintenance records.

• Maintains a current inventory of all reagents and supplies.

• Adheres to Standard Work for all job duties and reports deviations for correction. Participates in data collection and quality improvement efforts.

• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Licensure, Registration, And/or Certification Required

• Completion of a Bachelor s Degree program in medical technology, medical laboratory sciences, clinical laboratory sciences, Chemistry, Microbiology, or Biology.

• One years of relevant laboratory experience in a clinical laboratory setting.

• HT(ASCP) certification preferred.

Shift Time: 8:30pm to 5am 5x8 hrs. and 7pm-11pm 5x4 hrs.

Floating Requirements: NA.

Pay range: $40-43.75/hr.
