Job Title: Histotechnologist

Location: Fairbanks, AK

Shift Times and Length: 8-hour days

Salary Range: $31.32 to $48.94 per hour (based on experience and education)

Shift/Weekend/On-Call Differentials: Evening - $3.50/hr, Weekend - $2.50/hr, Night - $2.00/hr

Job Description:

The Histotechnologist organizes and processes patient specimens to support the functioning of histology. The role includes assuring quality results through the evaluation of control materials, equipment function, and proper specimen processing. Key tasks include embedding, cutting, staining, and preparing special and immunohistochemistry stains, as well as In Situ Hybridization protocols. The Histotechnologist may assist pathologists with frozen section procedures or grossing of specimens and other related tasks.

Qualifications:

• MLS/ASCP certification or equivalent (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB).
• Certification must be obtained within one year if not currently held.
• Three years of histology experience.
• Certification as a Histologist by ASCP or equivalent.
• MLS/ASCP
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
