Job Description - Home Away Senior Program Manager

Home Away serves youth facing housing insecurity, many of whom are living in shelters or transitional housing situations. Our program participants attend school in San Francisco, and many struggle academically. Therefore, this position requires a compassionate leader who is knowledgeable of the school system and deeply understands the connection between emotional and academic development. The purpose of the Home Away Senior Program Manager (SPM) is to oversee the program's daily programmatic and administrative operations. Daily program operations include but are not limited to, program design (academic/emotional support & college and career readiness, program outings), individual student check-ins to asses progress and needs leading to effective case management (individual learning plans and referrals using students' support tiered system), and ensuring agency policies and grant requirements are followed while providing a welcoming and nurturing environment for students, volunteers, families, and staff. The ideal candidate is charismatic, has a continuous quality mindset, and is passionate about advocating for students' needs. This position requires a high level of organizational and interpersonal skills to develop a thriving program that builds alliances with stakeholders to meet the needs of all participants so they can reach their full potential.
A Home Away From Homelessness is a program of Bay Area Community Resources (501c3 ) that seeks to radically alter the trajectory of children's lives by providing safe and supportive environments that foster their strengths, creativity, and abilities.
Qualifications
A minimum of 3 -5 years of experience working in youth development, educational equity, or a related position in a supervisory role, leading and managing a team that implements high-quality programs
Demonstrated cultural proficiency in working with marginalized and diverse communities
Demonstrated ability to empower students and families to reach their full potential.
Demonstrated ability to model best practices for program quality improvement.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in effective case management.
A minimum of 5 years of experience coordinating multi-faceted program
A minimum of 5 years of experience working with middle and high school students experiencing trauma and facing housing insecurity.
Demonstrated strong leadership and communication skills
Deep understanding of HS graduation requirements and the college admissions process.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse district/school staff, students, parents, and community members
Ability to balance competing priorities, meet deadlines, and reach measurable program outcomes.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a high degree of integrity
Knowledge of general HR practices is required.
Must pass a criminal background check and TB test clearance
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
Must be able to respond to crises or emergencies effectively
Must have a valid driver's license

Highly Desirable :

BA in Social Work or related fields or at least 5 years of relevant experience.
Bi-lingual English/Chinese or Spanish.

Duties and Responsibilities

Collaboration Duties
Develop and maintain high communication and positive relationships with all stakeholders.
Work closely in collaboration with volunteers, district partners, and city partners.
Provide program updates and progress reports to funders and other stakeholders.
Respond promptly and professionally to all stakeholder inquiries
Ensure and promote program visibility.
Acquire and leverage in-kind resources.
Manage and triage student referrals and advocacy needs.
Develop and maintain partnerships.
Hiring, supervising, evaluating and supporting staff via training and development, fostering staff strengths, training and coaching staff to implement quality programs.
Maintaining a collaborative management style that welcomes input from staff and engages their passions and gifts in their roles.
Develop and maintain partnerships in collaboration with the Outreach/Volunteer Manager:

Networking and building mutually beneficial relationships with outside organizations, funders, government agencies, and collateral service programs.
Giving speeches and presentations to raise funds for the program
Work closely with the Advisory Council and BACR leadership to best support programs

Program Implementation and Quality Assurance
Have weekly meetings with students, parents, and stakeholders to asses students progress.
Design a high-quality youth development program for up to 25 middle school, high school, and college-bound youth to support individual wellness and academic achievement.
Expose youth to a variety of activities, training, and projects that teach life skills and professional skills.
Work directly with students needing additional support when volunteer tutors are not available.
Ensure that academic, college, and career readiness curricula and socio-emotional development resources are culturally relevant and accessible to students and volunteer tutors.
Ensure all aspects of the program are in place, and systems provide efficiency (academic and emotional support, referral system, case management, program, and driving schedules, healthy and balanced meals, program outings and cultural experiences, facilities and vehicle maintenance )
Build trusting relationships with students and their families.
Monitor student progress and individual learning plans to ensure target goals are met.
Ensure effective implementation of HR procedures, policies, and practices for staff and volunteer recruitment, screening, hiring, and termination.
Coach, supervise, and support program staff.
Plan and implement ongoing systems for effective 15-25 youth case management.
Provide a home-like feeling for program participants, volunteers, and staff.
Hold team accountable to their job description and expectations
Design and implement meaningful programs that meet the needs of program participants (learning goals, new experiences, sense of belonging and community, trust and safety)
Ensure a balanced schedule of academic, physical, and enrichment activities is in place.
Gather data, conduct observations, and use assessments and feedback for ongoing program improvement.
Ensure compliance with all program and reporting requirements, including effective implementation of evaluations, program assessment activities, observations, and quarterly reports—complete evaluations, reports, and assessments as required.
Track student academic progress toward meeting high school graduation requirements and A-G eligibility for those interested in attending a 4-year college.
Assist students after high school graduation to find resources that help them successfully navigate life and find livable wage career paths.

Administrative and Fiscal Management:
Manage program budget, maintenance records, and student activities on a monthly basis, ensuring that the budget is on target
Ensure all students' records and program data are complete, organized, and compliant.
Review and approve HR documents
Uphold BACR best practices, policies, and procedures
Conduct annual performance evaluations
Monitor and approve staff timesheets and invoices
Help design and implement a sustainability plan for the Program
Identify and pursue additional sources of funding and in-kind resources
Track and meet deadlines for the submission of reports, invoices, contracts, and other documentation
Participate in all meetings, workshops, and activities organized by BACR and district agencies
Essential Functions:
Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds
Ability to drive to meetings and students (must have a clean driving record and an insured vehicle/vans for students driving are provided)
Proficient in working with Microsoft Office and Google Work, Space
Ability to perform a variety of administrative tasks
Ability to support the academic and emotional development of at-risk youth
Ability to work 12:00 - 8:00 M- Th and with an alternative early ending schedule on Fridays.
Ability to keep detailed records
Must be punctual and reliable
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to multi-task and successfully handle competing deadlines and priorities
Must have excellent communication skills

Above is the pay range for this position that we reasonably expect to pay. Individual compensation is based on various factors including experience/education, skillset, and geographic location.

Benefits
Pay rate: $80,000- $87,000 based on experience and credentials
Full Time 40 hrs per week, salaried, exempt
