Job Description - Home Manager


Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, compassionate, and organized Home Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations of two Individualized Supported Living (ISL) homes. In this vital role, you will champion the health, safety, and comfort of the individuals supported while ensuring regulatory compliance and cultivating a positive, collaborative environment for staff, families, and stakeholders. Your leadership will promote high-quality care, operational excellence, and a warm community atmosphere that fosters independence, dignity, and respect.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Staff Development

  • Model, support, and supervise Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to ensure services are individualized and person-centered.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of each individual’s needs and ensure staff effectively support those needs.
  • Ensure all staff are trained, competent, and confident in direct care, documentation, and daily responsibilities.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and problem-solving support for staff and individuals as needed.
  • Complete performance evaluations for assigned staff and ensure feedback and development goals are documented and reviewed.
  • Partner with the DPM/HR to recruit, hire, onboard, and train new employees.
  • Manage staff scheduling, time-off requests, call-ins, and shift trades, ensuring required approvals for overtime.
  • Foster a culture of respect, accountability, and teamwork while addressing performance concerns collaboratively with leadership.

Individual Care & Support Coordination

  • Promote the health, safety, and well-being of each individual at all times.
  • Train staff on each individual’s PCSP goals and ensure consistent implementation.
  • Collaborate with the DPM to develop goals/objectives and monitor progress.
  • Spend meaningful time weekly with individuals and complete required documentation.
  • Attend appointments as needed and ensure timely follow-up and scheduling.
  • Coordinate activities and outings with staff and individuals to promote engagement and choice.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Immediately report any reportable events to appropriate parties and ensure required documentation is completed by shift end.
  • Ensure homes meet all safety standards, including monthly safety checks and required fire/safety drills in accordance with Missouri Department of Mental Health regulations.
  • Work with Community RNs to ensure nursing visits, delegations, and reviews occur on schedule.
  • Submit physician orders for medication changes promptly and verify updated MARs monthly.
  • Monitor medications and medical supplies, review MARs regularly, and address errors or training needs.

Documentation & Operations

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required documentation, including daily notes, census reports, variance reports, and monthly reviews.
  • Monitor documentation quality and provide corrective coaching when needed.
  • Assist with payroll by ensuring staff submit accurate timesheets on time.
  • Work with the DPM on financial requests and provide required supporting documentation.
  • Provide staff coverage when needed to maintain continuity of care.
  • Remain available on-call to support staff and individuals, including in-person assistance if necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

  • Ability to pass a Family Care Safety Registry screening.
  • Strong work ethic, dependability, and openness to supervision and feedback.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with individuals, staff, families, and community partners.
  • Punctuality and flexibility to meet the needs of the individuals served.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of personal auto insurance (if transporting individuals).
  • Completion of all required agency and state trainings within 90 days of hire (including CPR/First Aid, Level One Med Aid, Abuse/Neglect, etc.).
