As a Horizon Business Development Representative (BDR), you’ll be trusted to spark up conversation with executives at the top 20 strategic accounts we’re looking to win. By reintroducing AppFolio to these organizations, you’ll be a key player responsible for transforming the way they scale their operations and uplevel the service they provide to renters across the U.S. We’re looking for a sales enthusiast that can start a conversation with anyone, and pays attention to the little details in order to produce messaging that breaks through the AI noise. 

In the first 30 days you’ll be absorbing industry knowledge and our sales methodology (Challenger, Sandler, and more) from the top Account Executives in our org, and by day 60 you’ll likely be preparing for your first flight into your territory.

Your impact:

• Lead deep-dive account mapping and strategic planning for your top accounts to unlock opportunities with top property management organizations in the country 
• Maintain exceptional data hygiene in Salesforce and leverage modern sales acceleration tools (Gong, Gemini, Claude, Actively AI, Sales Navigator) to run your territory like your own business 
• Engage directly with forward thinking executives via strategic, multi channel outreach (email, phone LinkedIn, in person) 
• Form a tight knit relationship with your account executives to continuously optimize pipeline conversion
• Take a flight, or drive, to your territory 3x per quarter to engage and convert new business 
• Actively participate in team strategy sessions, share best practices, and contribute to our culture of collective success.

Must Haves: 

• Demonstrated ability to leverage technology to optimize workflows and produce high quality pipeline 
• Calm under pressure, and can bounce back quickly when the unexpected flight cancellation happens or you call a prospect by the wrong name 
• Care about our collective success by being curious about those around you
• Contribute to the productivity of our lively sales floor needs by making calls next to your peers at least 3 days per week in our Dallas, TX office 
• Willingness and ability to travel into your territory up to 20% (required 3x per quarter) 
• Clear communicator that keeps leadership, and business partners in the loop 
• Look at every interaction with a person or account as an opportunity to solve a piece of the puzzle no other AppFolian has solved before 
• Operate with an always learning mindset so that you can own your personal and professional sales development 

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of professional office experience, including at least 1+ year in a sales or customer-facing role. A plus if in the real estate industry 
• Proficiency in Salesforce CRM and familiarity with modern sales technology
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills 
• Willingness to learn new skills and build a career in sales.

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $97,344.02 - $114,030.95 [base pay / OTE]. The actual compensation for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, education, experience, and internal equity. Please note that compensation is just one aspect of a comprehensive Total Rewards package. The compensation range listed here does not include additional benefits or any discretionary bonuses you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
