Job Description - Hospital Pharmacy

Position Summary:


The Hospital Pharmacy position is responsible for managing the drug formulary, ordering and maintaining medication inventory, and ensuring compliance with state, federal, and regulatory standards. Key duties include overseeing Omnicell systems, securing and documenting controlled substances, monitoring recalls and shortages, and supporting the 340B program. The role also participates in committees, quality initiatives, and collaborates with staff and providers to promote patient safety and effective medication management.



Job Qualifications:


Experience:  Familiar with medications utilized at Phillips County Hospital


Required Education:  Graduate of accredited school of nursing and current Kansas RN Licensure


Required Certifications or Licenses:  Registered Nurse, Current BLS Certification.  ACLS and PALS



Major Duties / Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions



  • Follow and maintain Pharmacy Policies and Procedures, including annual updates.

  • Manage hospital drug formulary, ordering, receiving, storing, and restocking medications.

  • Monitor and document drug inventory, including expirations, recalls, shortages, and controlled substances compliance.

  • Maintain and oversee Omnicell systems in ER, OR, and treatment areas; ensure security of controlled drugs per regulations.

  • Conduct regular inventories (monthly, quarterly, annual) and report to Medical Staff and CFO.

  • Assist with 340B program, DEA/Pharmacy license renewals, standing orders, and vaccine management.

  • Participate in Medical Staff, P&T, Risk, Quality, and Antibiotic Stewardship committees/meetings.

  • Review medication charges, oversee take-home packs, and support accurate recordkeeping.

  • Collaborate with consultants, providers, and staff to ensure regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and patient safety.

  9. ER charge review

  10. OBS charge review

  11. Pain Clinic charges

  12. Surgical charges


Nursing Floor Charge Review – Room Charges, Oxygen, APM, Wound Vac etc.
