Position Overview

Hospitality is an ambassador for Wonderstate and holds the responsibility for providing our customers with a cafe experience that brings Wonderstate’s core values to life. Hospitality at Wonderstate demonstrates our value of “Excellence. Always.” by preparing and serving high quality coffee and products, maintaining an impeccably clean workspace, and facilitating a hospitality experience that is second to none.  Hospitality works closely with Cafe Manager, Front of House and Back of House to achieve the café’s goals.

Core Responsibilities

• Prepare stellar coffee drinks that convey Wonderstate’s dedication to Excellence. Always.


• Provide every customer with a positive experience centered in joy and wonder


• Honor relationships within the team by giving and receiving feedback respectfully, expressing gratitude to others, and actively contributing to a positive team environment


• Greet guests as they enter the cafe


• Take customer orders within the POS system


• Process all forms of payments efficiently, accurately and honestly


• Provide efficient and personable customer service


• Knowledge of Wonderstate coffees, café drinks, and food products (including dietary restrictions).


• Brew and maintain batch coffee, as well as hot and iced teas.


• Knowledge of merchandise (especially the brewing equipment).


• Stock disposables and set up bar areas for service and throughout the shift.


• Wash and keep dishes and glassware stocked.


• Setup dairy & sugar station.


• Stock silverware. 


• Package bakery food items.


• Maintain cleanliness of bar space, dining area and merchandise area; along with other areas within the cafe


• Take out trash from the bar & dining area.


• Setup and breakdown of outdoor patio space.  Proper storage of patio furniture.


• Follow Food Safe Serve and state sanitation guidelines


• Identify regular customers


• Exemplify the core values of Wonderstate Coffee.

Requirements & Desired Skills

• Ability to communicate clearly and promptly with coworkers, customers and vendors


• Demonstrate strong multitasking skills.


• Clear, friendly communication.  


• Desire to continually be challenged and grow as a professional.


• Passion for ethically sourced, organic, high quality coffee and food, and supporting farmer cooperatives.
  

Work Environment

• Schedule varies each week


• Weekend hours are required


• Participation in quarterly deep clean process at least once a year


• Participation in special events or catering on occasion


• Participation in monthly staff meetings required


• Physical demands include bending, lifting 30 lbs repeatedly, repetitive movements and standing for long hours   

Hours, Wage & Location

• Onsite, Bayfield, WI  
  


• Non-exempt, Part-time


• Tipped position - starting wage is $11.00 per hour, based on experience.  Estimated tips are on average between $4-5 on an hourly basis. 
  


• Wonderstate guarantees a minimum of $15.00 per hour for all hourly employees.  If an employee's combined base wage and tips (if applicable) do not meet this rate, Wonderstate will make up the difference.
