Hospitality Experience Controller

The Controller oversees financial operations and reporting for Newport-managed hotels. This role ensures financial clarity, asset protection, and strategic alignment by partnering with property teams, corporate leadership, and ownership groups.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  

  Financial Leadership: Oversee GL, AP/AR, payroll, and cash management; advise leadership on risks and performance trends.

  
  


• 
  

  Portfolio Oversight: Lead monthly financial closes for all managed hotels in compliance with USALI and GAAP.

  
  


• 
  

  Property Support: Partner with General Managers to strengthen financial discipline and support new hotel transitions.

  
  


• 
  

  Controls & Compliance: Implement internal controls to safeguard assets, manage cash flow, and coordinate annual audits/tax filings.

  
  


• 
  

  Team Development: Mentor accounting staff and train property leaders on financial literacy and P&L management.

  
  

Qualifications & Competencies

• 
  

  Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.

  
  


• 
  

  Experience: 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience (Hospitality or multi-unit preferred).

  
  


• 
  

  Technical Skills: Proficiency in USALI, GAAP, and hospitality systems (M3, ADP, PMS/POS).

  
  


• 
  

  Attributes: Strong analytical rigor, strategic thinking, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
