Host/ Food Runner

Super popular tavern, Hale Street Tavern, located in the beautiful community of Beverly Farms, is currently a part time Host/ Food Runner with evening and weekend availability to join our team! If you love working in a fun, dynamic, fast paced and busy environment, then this could be a great opportunity for you.

Responsibilities of the Host:

• Greet guests and provide a welcoming atmosphere at the start of the dining experience
• Answer phones, receive take-out orders and answer guest questions accordingly
• Manage the wait list, strategically “moving pieces of the dining puzzle” in order to minimize wait times, minimize empty tables and evenly seat servers to ensure a high level of service can be provided to every guest
• Communicate with servers regarding their tables and with the kitchen regarding levels of business
• Assist the servers as needed, including clearing and resetting tables and refilling guests’ water glasses

Responsibilities of the Food Runner:

• Deliver food orders from the kitchen to customers’ tables quickly and accurately
• Act as the contact point between Front of the House and Back of the House staff
• Assist the wait staff with table clearing and setting
• Act as the final check on all dishes to ensure food is served in accordance with our plate presentations, any guest modifications including special requests and allergies, as well as safety standards (e.g. proper temperature)
• Communicate any guest requests to the appropriate server if it is not a request that you can fulfill yourself
• Refill guests’ water glasses as needed
• Remove dirty dishes and utensils
• Inform restaurant staff about customers’ feedback or requests (e.g. when they ask for the check)

• Preferably looking for someone 18 or older
• Must be able to work Saturdays and Sundays
• Experience as a host or food runner is not required but would be welcome
• Understanding of hygiene and food safety rules
• Physical ability and stamina to carry plates and stand for long hours
• Availability to work various shifts, including weekends
• Multi-tasking abilities
• Good oral communication skills
• Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced work environment
