Job Overview
The Household and Care Support Specialist is responsible for providing professional, high-level support in managing all household activities and offering comprehensive care to household members, including children, elderly individuals, and other individuals requiring assistance. This role involves applying advanced knowledge in caregiving, personal care, and household management to ensure the well-being of all household members and the efficient operation of the home. The Specialist exercises independent judgment in making decisions related to care plans, household management, and family needs, including personal and medical care, household budgeting, and scheduling.

Rationale: This position requires advanced knowledge and professional expertise in household management, personal care, caregiving (across all ages and needs), and health management. It qualifies for the Professional exemption under the FLSA, as it involves applying specialized knowledge in caregiving and household operations, typically obtained through specialized education and training.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate household staff, including nurses, aides, nannies, and other caregiving professionals, ensuring they meet household and care standards.
- Liaise with medical professionals, therapists, and other specialists involved in the care of household members, ensuring care plans are followed and updated as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all caregiving duties for household members, including but not limited to childcare, eldercare, and care for individuals with specific medical or personal needs, ensuring their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans, applying advanced knowledge of personal care, health management, and age-appropriate care practices.
- Coordinate medical care for household members, including scheduling doctor’s appointments, managing medications, and communicating with healthcare providers.
- Provide personal care, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility support.
- Oversee household operations, including cleaning, organizing, meal preparation, and managing household supplies, applying advanced household management techniques.
- Create and maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for household members by ensuring appropriate safety protocols and emergency response plans are in place.
- Supervise educational and recreational activities for children and elderly individuals, tailoring programs to developmental stages and interests.
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals that meet the dietary and medical needs of all household members, ensuring adherence to specialized diets where necessary (e.g., diabetic, low-sodium, or allergen-free diets).
- Manage assigned budgets, including budgeting for groceries, household supplies, and personal care products, while maintaining accurate records.
- Oversee outside service providers and contractors, ensuring that household projects are completed according to family needs and standards.
- Exercise independent judgment in responding to emergencies or unexpected caregiving or household situations, ensuring quick and effective resolution in the best interest of household members.
- Coordinate family travel and accommodations, both domestically and internationally, ensuring care and safety needs are addressed during travel.

Required Skills/Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of caregiving techniques, personal care practices, and household management.
- Competence in coordinating healthcare needs, including medication management, physical therapy, and special medical care.
- Strong understanding of household budgeting and scheduling.
- Ability to manage a team of caregivers and household staff, providing guidance and ensuring high standards of care and service.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record for running errands and transporting household members.
- CPR, First Aid, and specialized caregiving certifications (e.g., CNA, PCA, or similar) preferred.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Management, Early Childhood Education, Family Studies, specialized training/certification or a related field is required.
- At least 3-5 years of experience providing professional care in a household or caregiving setting, including childcare, eldercare, and personal assistance for individuals with special needs.
- Experience coordinating medical care and working with healthcare professionals.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and assist individuals requiring physical support (e.g., elderly or disabled persons).
- Ability to engage in physical activities, such as playing with children or assisting with mobility tasks.
- Ability to perform tasks that involve repetitive motion, such as cleaning and meal preparation.
