Job Description - Housekeeper

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Housekeeper is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning services to keep the property clean, sanitized, and tidy. The ideal candidate for this role is dependable, organized, hardworking, and observant.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Clean the property including community spaces, amenity areas, residential units, hallways, stairwells, etc. 
  • Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors. 
  • Conduct “trash outs” as needed. When residents leave behind belongings and/or trash, move items to storage or dispose of as directed.
  • Clean and sanitize toilets, sinks, countertops, showers, bathtubs, mirrors, and other hard surfaces. 
  • Dust affected surfaces, furniture, and fixtures. 
  • Clean walls, baseboards, windowsills, and blinds. 
  • Wash the windows.
  • Restock paper towel, toilet paper, hand soap, hand sanitizer, and other consumable products.
  • Collect and dispose of trash; clean and disinfect trash rooms, chutes, and receptacles. 
  • Sanitize high touch areas, such as doorknobs, light switches, reception areas, stair railings, etc.
  • Maintain and organize cleaning equipment and storage spaces.
  • Inventory cleaning supplies and work with management to order supplies when necessary. 
  • Report maintenance issues to property management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to manage time efficiently and work independently.
  • Present oneself in a neat, clean, and professional manner at all times throughout the workday and/or whenever present at the property.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 2 years of prior housekeeping experience is preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • None

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; bend/stoop, twist, squat/kneel, crouch, or crawl; climb and balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
