Housekeeper / Janitor Location: Syracuse, NY Job Type: Full Time, On-site Compensation and Benefits • Base Salary: $18-$21/hr + commensurate with experience • Health Insurance • PTO and Holiday Pay Position Summary: Lifestyle Apartments Syracuse is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Housekeeper / Janitor to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across our apartment community. This individual will be responsible for cleaning vacant apartments, laundry facilities, leasing offices, and all shared interior spaces. Ideal Candidate: You’re dependable, take pride in your work, and understand the importance of a clean, comfortable space for both residents and staff. You work well independently, are thorough in your approach, and don’t mind rolling up your sleeves to make a space shine. Core Responsibilities: Common Area Cleaning & Sanitation: • Clean and sanitize all interior common areas, including: o Hallways, stairwells, entryways, and lobbies o Laundry rooms and leasing offices o Community rooms and shared restrooms (if applicable) • Disinfect high-touch surfaces such as door handles, railings, and light switches • Ensure all areas remain tidy, clean, and well-stocked with supplies throughout the day Vacant Unit Turnovers: • Perform deep cleaning of apartments after residents move out, including: o Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors o Cleaning kitchen appliances, cabinets, counters, and sinks o Sanitizing bathrooms including toilets, tubs, mirrors, and tile o Dusting baseboards, windowsills, and light fixtures Light Maintenance Support: • Notify the maintenance team of any damage or repair needs • Help maintain supply inventory and report when cleaning products need restocking Job Requirements: • At least 1 year of janitorial or housekeeping experience preferred • Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 30 lbs • Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and climb stairs • Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions • Basic knowledge of cleaning tools and supplies; understanding of chemical safety • Good communication and time management skills • Reliable, professional, and courteous attitude Preferred Skills (Not Required): • Experience cleaning apartment communities or commercial properties • Familiarity with light maintenance tools or tasks • Willingness to learn safety procedures and follow OSHA guidelines
