Housekeeping / Food Service Specialist

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This position plays a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and organization within our facilities while also assisting with food preparation tasks during Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner. The ideal candidate will be reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of working efficiently and committed to creating a safe and pleasant dining experience for our clients.

Housekeeping Duties:

• Clean and sanitize common areas, dining facilities, and other designated areas according to established standards.
• Sweep and mop floors, and empty trash receptacles.
• Ensure all cleaning equipment and supplies are properly maintained and stored.
• Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and notify management when supplies need to be replenished.

Prep Cook Duties:

• Assist with meal preparation of breakfast, lunch and dinner meals according to the Dietician’s menu and plates portion sizes according to recommendations established by the American Dietetic Assoc.
• Ensure that meals are visually appealing and meet food safety standards.   
• Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers, and food processors.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen area, including proper storage of food items and cleaning of cooking utensils and equipment.
• Follows sanitation and safety guidelines to prevent cross-contamination 
• Assist with washing dishes and kitchen cleanup tasks as needed.
• Assist with the organization and storage of kitchen supplies, ingredients, and equipment.
• Transports meals to the Children’s Crisis Unit, ensuring timely and safe delivery.
• Maintains a friendly and professional demeanor while interacting with clients and staff.

General Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient operation of New Horizons of the Treasure Coast.
• Communicate any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to health, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor when interacting with visitors and coworkers.

Requirements

 Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent 
• Previous experience in housekeeping and/or food service roles preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation standards, and safe food handling practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to adhere to a flexible work schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

• The ability to lift and carry items up to 30 pounds.
• Standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
• Tolerance for exposure to kitchen-related odors and temperatures.
• Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks that require standing, bending, lifting, and carrying heavy objects.
