Housekeeping Lead

Overview: The Housekeeping Lead (2nd Shift) plays a critical  role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across the JCC  facility. This position serves as the point person for evening operations in  the absence of the Facilities Director and provides direction to the housekeeping  team during the 2nd shift. The Lead is responsible for supporting the daily  operations of the department, responding to immediate facility needs, managing  weekend call-offs following the established chain of command, and helping  ensure proper setup and teardown of events and rentals..

General Responsibilities: 

• Serve as the point of contact for 2nd shift housekeeping needs
• Provide guidance and support to housekeeping team members during the shift
• Assign nightly cleaning and event setup tasks and ensure completion.
• Monitor and maintain facility cleanliness throughout the shift, including classrooms, restrooms, and locker rooms, gym, auditorium, offices, fitness areas, and hallways.
• Step in to perform cleaning duties when needed to maintain service standards.
• Respond to evening or weekend call-offs, either covering the shift or working with the team to secure coverage following the department's chain of command
• Communicate clearly with the Facilities Director regarding any unresolved issues or concerns
• Open or close the facility at designated times; secure the building
• Manage set-up and tear-down for evening and weekend rentals or events
• Check and replenish locker rooms and other high-traffic areas throughout the shift
• Track and manage inventory of housekeeping supplies, and report needs
• Ensure proper use of cleaning and safety equipment, including carpet cleaning machines and ladders
• Support weekend operations and provide on-site leadership for weekend events
• Maintain a professional appearance and positive customer service throughout the shift
• Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment as required
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Facilities Director

• Understand/possess an openness to Jewish religion and traditions
• Attend all meetings and events that support the department’s main objectives and responsibilities
• Positively and actively promote the JCC’s mission, membership, programs, events, and charitable purpose to JCC members and the general public
• Be familiar with the mission, vision statements, and Core Values of the JCC. Model the Core Values while working and communicating with members and staff

Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of professional housekeeping experience
• Prior experience in a team leadership or shift lead role preferred
• Fluent in English and able to effectively communicate via radio or in person
• High school diploma or  equivalent required
• Ability to work independently and remain on-task with minimal supervision
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs., climb ladders, and stand for prolonged periods
• Comfortable using commercial cleaning equipment and managing supply inventory
• Must be able to stack and remove chairs to a height of 25
