Job Description - Housekeeping Supervisor, 2nd Shift - Sewells Point Medical Clinic
PCSI is looking for a Housekeeping Supervisor on our team serving Naval Medical Center Portsmouth and its related clinics. This role supports site leadership with supervising a staff of Environmental Services Technicians working at Sewells Point Medical Clinic on Naval Station Norfolk.
The Housekeeping Supervisor oversees a team of about 20 employees and is responsible for directing employees on housekeeping assignments, monitoring and inspecting work, and providing leadership and training.
We're looking for someone with supervisory experience; housekeeping or environmental services experience is a plus! Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 11:00am-8:00pm, with occasional weekends as needed.

What You'll Do as Housekeeping Supervisor:
Prepare, maintain, and arrange housekeeping, and floor care personnel schedules to meet the daily or changing workloads or requests.
Provide leadership to housekeeping staff, fostering exceptional customer service skills; motivate staff to improve performance; encourage further development and build professionalism.
Supervise a staff of 15-20 Environmental Services Technicians.
Direct and monitor work assignments for housekeeping duties; conduct inspection, check completion of work, and ensure compliance to contract specifications.
Monitor employee performance. Train new and existing personnel in cleaning procedures and assuring that all facility rules are being observed regarding security and safety for personnel, property, and facilities.
Maintain time and attendance and resolve routine disciplinary problems.
Maintain inventory of cleaning deficiency records, and submit reports concerning personnel, equipment, supplies, and general maintenance and repair activities.
Adhere to the company rules, technical procedures, and safety policies as may be communicated verbally or in writing.

What You'll Need:
High school diploma or GED required.
1-2 years of supervisory experience required, housekeeping supervisory experience preferred.
Environmental services experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Experience in an environment that includes workers with disabilities preferred.
Driver's license and ability to drive company vehicles required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience with Microsoft Office applications with emphasis in Outlook.
Working knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to read and understand service requests, container labels, product information, and directions on cleaning chemicals and other materials.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, hospital staff and government officials.
Ability to effectively read, write, and speak the English language.
Ability to follow directions, understand work rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
Ability to adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations.
Ability and willingness to exert disciplinary action as needed.
Other Requirements:
Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.
Ability to be exposed to various dirt, debris, and odors. Subject to hazards associated with working in a health care environment that may cause personal harm; diseases, cuts, bruises, burns, common colds, influenza, dust, odors and elevated noise levels.
May be required to work in aseptic areas and be exposed to various chemicals and infectious disease.
Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
Possess valid driver’s license and maintain good driving record.
If required, ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and base access to assigned site(s).
