Job Summary:

The Housekeeping Supervisors main responsibility is to ensure our daily housekeeping operations run smoothly and that guests are satisfied. To accomplish this they organize and distribute the day’s work amongst the staff and make sure that they have equipment and supplies to be successful. Housekeeping Supervisors supervise, support, train, coach, and motivate the team.

Responsibilities and Duties Include but Not Limited to the Following:

  • Manages Housekeeping daily activities including creating and distributing daily assignment sheets and work boards, facilitating the daily pre-shift meeting, distributing and supervising special projects and events, resolving guest requests and complaints, etc.
  • Prepares, distributes, and communicates changes in daily assignment sheets and work boards. Participates in the training and ongoing evaluation of associates.
  • Completes required paperwork and assists management in training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating and coaching employees.
  • Delivers effective and impactful housekeeping standards of service training to associates.
  • Ensures that employees are always representing The Betsy and makes sure they uphold brand and training standards each and every moment of their day.
  • Treats employees fairly and with respect. Embraces a culture of open communication, spends time with employees on the frontlines, and is available for them (“open door policy”).
  • Ensures overtime and productivity within the Housekeeping department remains in line with the goals set by The Betsy.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with legal, safety, operations, labor, and cost controls.
  • Assist in keeping up to date inventories of supplies and equipment to ensure that staff and guest needs are met without undue interruptions.
  • Constantly monitors guest service systems to ensure that they are working properly and accurately and that the staff uses them correctly.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures and attends scheduled safety meetings and training.
  • Inspects guest rooms, public areas, pool, etc. after being cleaned and disinfected by The Betsy housekeeping team members to ensure quality standards.
  • Has knowledge and previous work experience with OPERA system. Has the ability to run sold room reports, verify room status and determine discrepant rooms, prioritize room cleaning, and update status of departing guest rooms.
  • Periodically confers with the Engineering, and Front Office departments, ensuring clear communication and seamless workflow between all areas.
  • Documents and resolves issues with discrepant rooms with the Front Desk.
  • Personifies the best values of The Betsy brand, demonstrating exceptional work ethic and service delivery for all employees on property.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management.

Build Leadership Influence with Guests, Community and Owners

  • Establishes a presence for The Betsy brand and the hotel in the local community and builds strategic alliances to embed what’s happening inside the hotel with what’s happening outside of it.
  • Goes beyond just addressing what’s not working, making sure to recognize the exceptional and continually enhances the standard for what defines best-in-class service delivery at The Betsy. Knows what guests need before they need it.

Job Requirements

  • 2+ years of Housekeeping Supervisor experience in life-style or boutique properties
  • Demonstrated passion for hospitality and service.
  • Must have the ability to:
    • Read, write, speak and understand English. Spanish or Haitian Creole is desirable.
    • Stand and walk for extended periods of time;
    • Lift, push, pull and handle up to 25 lbs of weight;
    • Operate management systems using computers and smart devices;
    • Lead others;
    • Work independently;
    • Solve complex problems.
    • Multi-task.
  • Must be:
    • Service-oriented;
    • Professional and calmed under pressure;
    • Extremely detailed-oriented.
