The Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor is responsible for planning and organizing the work of the housekeeping and laundry departments in keeping with the philosophy and objectives of the Cherry County Hospital and Clinic. Work also includes the performance of the routine duties of the housekeeping and laundry departments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Oversees the daily operations of housekeeping and laundry
Assigns tasks, inspecting work and providing training and guidance to housekeeping staff
Ensures all areas of the hospital, including patient rooms, public areas and administrative offices are cleaned and sanitized according to established protocols and regulations
Responsible for on-the-job training of new employees in housekeeping and laundry
Completes evaluation of employees
Creates and maintains employee schedules
Timesheet approval for payroll
Assists with departmental policies and procedures
Monitors cleaning supplies and equipment, placing orders as needed to endure adequate stock levels
Promotes a safe work environment for housekeeping and laundry staff and ensuring they are following proper safety procedures
Responsible for ordering new linen, repairing torn linen, and maintaining an inventory of linen
Keeps a supply of clean linen on hand for heavy use areas
Maintains infection control standards
Maintains accurate and up-to-date information regarding hazardous waste for self and the department
Disposes of hospital waste properly
Participates in hospital committees as assigned
Ensures the confidentiality of patients’ medical, personal, and financial records is maintained
Knowledgeable of and committed to practicing Corporate Compliance policies and procedures
Complies with Cherry County Hospital personnel policies
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Must be knowledgeable of state and federal confidentiality laws, including but not limited to HIPAA, and be familiar with and follow all policies, procedures and instructions regarding the privacy and security of protected health information applicable to the position.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Able to use hands and upper extremities repetitively
Able to lift weights sufficient to load and unload washers and dryers
Able to work safely with contaminated linens
Ability to operate potentially dangerous equipment safely
Direct reports
Housekeepers and laundry report to this position.
Requirements
Minimum Job Requirements
High school graduate or equivalent preferred
Experience in custodial and/or housekeeping desired
One year experience in laundry service area preferred
