Job Description - Housing Clinician

Description

SCHEDULE: 40 hours, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Some flexibility required. 

Pays $71,676.00 annually - DOE & License 

LOCATION: Office location 3368 Washington St. Jamaica, Plain, MA 02130 Travel is required depending on living situation of individuals served. Most residences/programs are located within Greater Boston.

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:

The Housing Clinician will be available to tenants and staff (especially case managers) of the Permanent Supportive Housing department of Pine Street Inn (PSI). The Housing Clinician will provide support, clinical services and consultation, appropriate resources addressing the complexities of care for tenants with histories of trauma, mental illness and/or addictive disorders, utilizing Harm Reduction as a model of engagement, intervention and evaluation.  The Housing Clinician works closely with the Housing Support Services teams and other providers such as BHCHP providers for the purpose of tenancy preservation and increased resident independence. The Housing Clinician will maintain close communication with Housing Clinical Services (HCS) to collaborate with the team regarding high-risk individuals.

    

 

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

REQUIRED:

  • Master’s degree or higher in a related field (i.e. social work, clinical psychology, education, nursing.)
  • LICSW, LMHC or other qualified licensure (e.g.: LCSW) or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire
  • Advanced training in hoarding or ability to obtain advanced training in Hoarding within one year of hire

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of two (3) years direct care experience providing services, including assessment and individual and/or group therapy, to adults living in the community with mental illness and/or addictive disorders
  • Clinical skills and competence to offer education around substance use, trauma, co-occurring disorders, mental illness diagnoses, and emotional and mental health generally
  • Strong computer skills, including but not limited to use of management information systems or database programs
  • Knowledge of and strong commitment to Harm Reduction philosophy, principles and practices.

PREFERRED:

  • Experience working with chronically homeless, medically vulnerable individuals, with tri-morbidities (mental illness, substance abuse, medically compromised)
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, empowering and otherwise supporting non-clinical direct-care staff
  • Familiarity with Housing First as a model of permanent, supported, affordable housing
  • Expertise in Motivational Interviewing and case management responsibilities
  • Expertise in Trauma-Informed Care, including the impact on direct-care staff (i.e. secondary traumatic stress, vicarious traumatization)
  • Bilingual Spanish/ English
