MG+M The Law Firm (MG+M) is seeking an HR & Administrative Specialist to join our team in California. This person can sit in any one of our four California office locations: Irvine, Los Angeles, San Francisco or Walnut Creek, but will oversee and assist with the day-to-day HR and administrative operations of all four offices.

The HR & Administrative Specialist will report to the Chief Human Relations Officer on all HR related responsibilities and will report to California’s Chief Legal Officer on all administrative related responsibilities.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead California recruitment efforts
  • Administration of onboarding/offboarding for all California hires
  • Supervision, training and development of administrative staff
  • Handle workflow coordination among legal administrative assistants, paralegals and attorneys
  • Oversee/approve PTO requests & staff timecards
  • Administration of annual review process and compensation evaluations
  • Employee relations management
  • Build morale through effective communication, leadership, and engagement of team
  • Organize and coordinate team member events, team-building activities, and social gatherings to build relationships and promote a sense of camaraderie and connection across all California offices
  • Support MG+M’s national HR team with various administrative tasks
  • Review payroll for California specific exceptions
  • General oversight of facilities management for all California offices
  • Assist in the preparation of annual office budget

Skills and Abilities:

  • Enhanced knowledge of California labor and employment laws
  • Strong team management and leadership skills, with a proven ability to develop and lead in a client service-focused environment
  • Highly effective communications skills and ability to communicate credibly and diplomatically with all levels in an organization
  • Ability to anticipate and to strategically address challenges
  • Ability to independently assess internal firm needs and to develop and lead responsive solutions
  • Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively
  • Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure
  • Experience working in a law firm is preferred, but not required

Qualified applicants will have a B.A. or B.S. in a related field and five or more years of experience with legal or other professional service organizations. Other requirements include an understanding of human resources and office coordination/management. Frequent travel is required.
