JOB DESCRIPTION:
HR Assistant/Payroll
1st Shift: 8am-4:30pm
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 DOE
Location: Union City, CA

SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE:
The HR Assistant supports the department's administrative needs and has diverse responsibilities. The position requires a detail-oriented individual who is comfortable assisting employees in all HR matters.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Administering/enrolling employee medical benefits.
- Contact employees directly or via supervisor for enrollment
- Assist the employee in enrollment
- Forward and confirm registration with the vendor
- Ensure employees fill up the "Employee deduction authorization" form and forward it to HR to input information
- Point of contact for all employee queries
- Ensure employees sign the "Decline Benefit" form if employees choose not to enroll
- File documents in the personal file
2. Administer 401K Benefit
- Contact employees directly or via supervisor for enrollment
- Assist employees in enrollment
- Ensure employees fill up the "Employee deduction authorization" form and forward it to HR to input information
- Ensure employee signs "Opt-out" form if the employee chooses not to enroll
- File documents in the personal file
3. All correspondents
- Open and attend to all daily incoming emails, including filing them.
- Check the voicemail
4. Filing
- Open up personal file
- Store away resignation files
- Manifest by name
- All other correspondents
5. Drivers' Manifest
- Check for lunch and meal breaks
- File by names for the month
- Box it every month
6. Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
7. Maintain HR files.
8. Other duties as assigned by HR Manager.

- Run payroll reports
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ATTRIBUTES:
- Relevant Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience of direct involvement in warehousing and transportation.
- Must have a background in the produce industry.
- Strong computer skills, including CRM and Microsoft Office products.
- Prefer bilingual in English/Spanish.
- In-depth knowledge of customer service principles and best practices.
- Ability to respond quickly to changing needs and adapt as necessary to meet new challenges
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Relevant Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience of direct involvement in warehousing and transportation.
