HR Compensation and Benefits SpecialistWe are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical HR Compensation and Benefits Specialist to oversee our client’s compensation and benefits programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of compensation principles, benefits administration, and regulatory compliance. This role will involve designing and implementing compensation structures, managing employee benefits programs, and providing expertise on compensation-related matters to support our organization's strategic objectives. This is a Contract opportunity located downtown Chicago, IL>
Responsibilities:- Design, implement, and administer competitive compensation programs to attract and retain top talent.
- Conduct market research and benchmarking to ensure our compensation practices remain competitive and aligned with industry standards.
- Develop and maintain job descriptions, salary ranges, and pay structures based on job evaluations and market analysis.
- Manage the annual salary review process, including merit increases, promotions, and bonuses.
- Collaborate with HR and hiring managers to determine appropriate salary offers for new hires and internal promotions.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other fringe benefits.
- Coordinate with benefits vendors and brokers to ensure the effective delivery of benefits services and resolve employee inquiries.
- Stay informed about changes in employment laws and regulations related to compensation and benefits, and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Provide guidance and support to HR team members, managers, and employees on compensation and benefits-related matters.
- Prepare and analyze compensation and benefits data, metrics, and reports for management review and decision-making.
- Participate in salary surveys and industry studies to gather relevant data for compensation planning purposes.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field; Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CCP, CBP) is a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in HR, with a focus on compensation and benefits administration.
- Strong understanding of compensation principles, including job evaluation methodologies, salary structures, and incentive programs.
- Familiarity with benefits administration, including health and welfare plans, retirement plans, and leave programs.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and compensation management software; experience with ADP, Workday, or similar platforms is preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make recommendations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing compensation and benefits.
