The global Human Resource (HR) Function provides an integrated talent management system that delivers a workforce that is Corning's competitive differentiator in the global marketplace.

HR provides service offerings that align solutions to business challenges by ensuring the programs are Effective, Efficient, Global, Scaleable, and Repeatable. Corning's Values are operationalized by the HR Function through the facilitation of Talent Management offerings, as well as programs and processes that aid in making Corning's Values visible.

Role Purpose:
Supports HR Manager, Administration to ensure that WPS has the right number and type of talent to execute WPS strategy and achieve desired business results.
Ensures plant establishes and maintains a positive work environment and operates as "One Corning" in support of Corning's values.
Assists in achieving or beating budgetary objectives in support of top quartile performance objectives while maintaining appropriate levels of HR service delivery.
Assists in successful implementation of global HR business processes within WPS.
Ensures plant compliance with HR-related legal and regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:

Effectively deploys hiring process for hourly workers and temporary employees.
Educates leadership on union contracts and local and state employment law to ensure compliance with contracts and applicable personnel management laws.
Manages and mitigates employee grievances by ensuring supervisors and leadership are creating an open forum for discussion and resolution of plant issues in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Conducts internal investigations, in partnership with ER and Legal, if needed, and recommends resolution and follow up as appropriate
Administers grievances as appropriate
Coaches and counsels management in development and demonstration of leadership and management practices required to establish and maintain a positive work environment.
Resolves employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner that protects the needs of WPS to operate in an effective and efficient manner.
Educates employees on shared service and third-party vendor capabilities to increase use and benefits of these services.
Takes ownership for specific HR initiatives that support the effective operations of the organization by developing and/or delivering HR programs (e.g., attendance tracking, training, communications).
Tracks and documents employment issues and requests (e.g., FMLA, workers compensation, ADA) as required for procedural and legislative purposes.
Identifies employee value proposition issues affecting turnover and works with HR Manager to identify actions for improvement.
Establishes and maintains a physical presence with hourly employees within WPS by visiting campuses to keep a read on the pulse of the organization.
Implements appropriate risk management policies and procedures to ensure plant compliance with safety requirements and local, state, and federal employment laws.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

Required Background/Experience:

Proven ability to interact with union employees, union leadership and plant leadership
Successful track record of performance as an HR Specialist, Center of Excellence (COE) role or equivalent.
Successful track record in the deployment of global HR business processes or programs (ASR, Performance Management, Voice to Action).
Knowledge of employment laws and policies.
Education & Experience Required:

At least 2 -4 years of HR experience (generalist/specialist).
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or Organization Development, labor relations or equivalent.
Master's degree in related area and/or HR certifications- a plus.
Union experience.

This position does not support immigration sponsorship.

The range for this position is $78,731.00 - $108,256.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
