Job Description - HR Generalist

Purpose and Job Summary

ORIX Corporation USA is seeking a motivated HR Generalist I to join our Shared Services team. This role serves as a front-line HR resource responsible for executing high-volume, transactional work with accuracy, consistency, and strong adherence to service level expectations.

Reporting to the Director of Payroll and HR Operations, this position supports core HR operations through Workday transactions, employee support, and process execution. The role contributes to documentation, knowledge transfer, and continuous improvement efforts, ensuring consistency, compliance, and a high-quality employee experience across the organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

HR Service Delivery & Transaction Processing

  • Execute high-volume HR transactions in Workday, including hires, job changes, terminations, and organizational updates
  • Manage employee inquiries through Workday Help (AskHR), ensuring timely resolution and SLA adherence
  • Route and escalate complex or sensitive issues to appropriate HR partners (HRBPs, COEs, Payroll)
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure data integrity across HR systems

Employee Lifecycle & Onboarding Support

  • Support preboarding, onboarding, and orientation processes, including offer letter generation and employment documentation
  • Coordinate interview scheduling and pre-employment screenings
  • Support executive onboarding logistics and employee experience activities
  • Execute hire transactions, onboarding workflows, and lifecycle updates in Workday

Operational Support, Controls & Workforce Events

  • Support audit and controls activities, including data validation and documentation
  • Assist with regulatory and workforce reporting
  • Execute transactions related to terminations, RIFs, and separation processes
  • Support work location changes, flexible work arrangements (FWA), and related transactions

Documentation, Knowledge Management & Process Integrity

  • Maintain and update SOPs, job aids, and knowledge base content
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of process documentation across HR Operations
  • Support cross-training and knowledge transfer initiatives
  • Contribute to maintaining strong process governance and operational consistency

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

  • Identify trends in case management and transactional work to improve efficiency
  • Provide input on process improvement opportunities to enhance service delivery and employee experience
  • Partner with stakeholders across Centers of Excellence (COEs) to support HR service delivery

Contacts

This position has frequent contact with all levels of employees and management. In addition, this role may interact with outside business partners, vendors, consultants, and other office visitors.

Education, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 2–4 years of HR experience in a shared services, HR operations, or transactional environment
  • 2+ years of experience with executing HR transactions in Workday HCM
  • Working knowledge of HR processes, including onboarding, compliance, and employee lifecycle support
  • Basic understanding of employment laws (FMLA, ADA, state leave regulations)
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and process adherence
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and to use discretion in the performance of daily activities
  • High level of discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, PowerPoint)
  • Leverage critical thinking and analytical expertise to drive accurate, high-quality outcomes
  • Demonstrate ownership and initiative, proactively engaging with management and cross-functional partners to drive outcomes
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and constant interruptions and the ability to adjust priorities in a changing environment

Preferred

  • Experience supporting shared services or centralized HR model
  • Exposure to leave of absence administration or compliance processes
