Our client is a high-end residential construction company in New York City with approximately 45 employees across its office and project sites. This is the company’s in-house human resources position, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
The HR Generalist exists to help the company make better hires, keep good people, and stay compliant with federal, New York State and New York City employment and labor laws, including workplace-safety recordkeeping and training requirements under OSHA. Working closely with the COO and other senior managers, you will learn how each function operates and use independent judgment to plan and carry out HR work across recruiting and hiring, onboarding and retention, employee relations, records, and policy.
The company uses a professional employer organization for payroll, benefits administration and related compliance. You are the day-to-day HR lead and the point of contact with them. Job-site safety stays with field leadership; you coordinate with them on safety records and training.
What the role covers

Onboarding, retention and employee relations.
Records, policy and compliance, including OSHA recordkeeping and required training.
Culture, events and professional development.
