The Opportunity

I am currently recruiting a hands-on HR Generalist on behalf of an established international Tier-1 automotive manufacturing business at their facility in Howell, MI.

They need an operational, site-based HR professional on the ground to partner closely with plant leadership, support production teams, and deliver a comprehensive HR service across the employee lifecycle.

If you enjoy working on the plant floor, collaborating directly with operations, and managing a broad generalist remit in a fast-paced environment, this will be an excellent fit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational HR & Employee Relations: Act as the primary HR point of contact for plant managers, shift supervisors, and plant floor teams; address day-to-day employee relations and ensure consistent application of company policies.
  • Full-Cycle Recruitment & Onboarding: Lead hiring across plant production and professional site support roles; oversee orientation, onboarding, and initial training pathways.
  • Performance & Manager Coaching: Partner with operational leaders on performance evaluations, talent development, succession planning, and corrective actions.
  • Compliance & HR Administration: Administer site compensation and benefits, maintain HRIS data integrity, compile workforce metrics, and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal employment regulations and workplace safety standards.
  • Workforce Planning & Site Growth: Support headcount planning and workforce adjustments connected to new program launches and plant volume increases.

What We Are Looking For

  • Manufacturing Experience: Demonstrated HR experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or plant environment (automotive supplier experience is highly advantageous).
  • Plant-Floor Presence: Comfortable and eager to work fully on-site and engage directly with production and shop-floor teams.
  • Core Competencies: Practical grounding in employee relations, full-cycle recruiting, compliance, and core HR administration.
  • Systems: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard HRIS/ATS software.
  • Certifications (Advantageous): SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification is a plus.
