HSE Specialist - Owner's Rep.

SMG seeks an HSE Specialist/Owner's Rep in Kansas City, Missouri.

The HSE Advisor will coordinate contractor work, conduct additional field audits, and support the HSE team’s efforts.

Overview of Job Responsibilities

• Conduct an initial project HSE gap assessment and priority risk review within the first two (2) weeks of assignment.
• Perform and document daily field observations, including identification of significant findings, critical risks, and required follow-up actions.
• Prepare and submit weekly written status reports summarizing key activities, leading concerns, open action items, incident and event status, and emerging project risks.
• Review and provide documented feedback on high-risk work plans, permits, JSAs/JHAs, and energy isolation plans, as requested by the Project Team.
• Track, communicate, and support closure of corrective actions identified through field observations, incidents, inspections, and project meetings.
• Support incident and event investigations, including corrective action follow-up and development of lessons learned documentation.
• Prepare a final project closeout report summarizing significant risks, key observations, major events, and lessons learned upon completion of the assignment.

• Five years of construction safety experience.
• Three-plus years of experience managing teams and departments, overseeing program execution, and holding program ownership.
• Degree in safety or related fields.
• Previous experience in safety leadership.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Course.

• Wearing personal protective gear correctly
