Job Description - Human Resource Coordinator

Purpose:


Responsible for administering the day-to-day operations of the human resource functions and duties, including the following functional areas: departmental development, employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, organization development, and employment process.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Foster positive company/employee communication.


Benefit administration: orientation, enrollment, maintenance within vendor portals, HRIS system and employee personnel files. Ensure billing accuracy on invoices and payroll system for all benefits. Be a benefit champion and drive total compensation. Prepare payroll and other reports as needed.


Employee safety and welfare. Serve as safety committee secretary. Maintain and issue safety and first aid supplies on site. Track training and deadlines for certifications such as CDL licensures and appointments.


Monitor and submit communications and documentation for worker's compensation, unemployment, FMLA, and all other leaves of absence. Serve as liaison for employee injuries, accidents, or incidents with vendors, management, and liability insurances.


Submit and monitor accident reports to workers' compensation and general liability insurance carriers.


Manage recruitment and onboarding orientation process. Assist with employee development training.


Maintain retention statistics.


Review policies and procedures and develop updates with management for an updated employee handbook. Communicate policies and updates to all team members.


Prepare employee Performance Evaluations for annual and probationary reviews. Monitor deadlines.


Stay abreast of employment laws; notify Manager of any related changes.


Comply with all federal and state regulations and laws governing HIPAA, ADA, EEO, FMLA, FLSA, etc.


Assist management with disciplinary and termination procedures.


Maintain HIPAA compliance, confidentiality, and compliance with all federal & state laws governing employment.


Perform as a substitute weighmaster, as needed,


Must attend all assigned workshops, trainings, etc.


Any other task or duty as assigned or required by Management and/or Board of Directors.


Knowledge and Skill Requirements: Minimum of Human Resource Associate degree or related field or three years of human resource work related experience. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and HR software programs. Must stay proficient in applications as technology progresses, and implement new technology as it is developed.


Physical Demands and Working Environment:


Occasional exposure to chemicals, fumes, moving parts and equipment.


Requires working in an office environment as well as occasional outside exposure to extreme heat/cold.


Must be a self-starter and self-motivator.


Must be able to work independently as well as in a team setting.


Working hours are subject to the demands of the job and may frequently extend well beyond the normal workweek.


Must possess judgment skills and ability to make sound decisions.


Must possess effective communication skills.


Must be able to understand, speak and write the English language.


Must be able to deal very well with the public.


Must adhere to the on-site safety plan and occupational practices to ensure the safety of employees, customers, and visitors.


Requires light to medium physical strength.


Physical demands require frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, and eye/hand/foot coordination. Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
