Job Description - Human Resources & Benefits Coordinator
O’Hagan Meyer is a dynamic and growing law firm committed to providing practical, innovative, and exceptional litigation and advisory services to our clients. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Benefits Administrator with extensive experience managing employee benefits across multiple states, including but not limited to California and New York.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in benefits administration and compliance, including deep working knowledge of federal and state regulations such as the Affordable Care Act (ACA), ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and applicable leave laws. This role requires the ability to manage the full lifecycle of benefits administration, including enrollment, compliance tracking, audits, reporting, and employee support.
Key Responsibilities & Expertise:
Administer and manage employee benefits programs in compliance with ACA, ERISA, COBRA, and applicable state regulations
Oversee benefits enrollment, qualifying life events, and annual open enrollment processes
Ensure accurate ACA tracking, measurement periods, and reporting (including 1094/1095 filings)
Support ERISA compliance, including plan documentation, SPD distribution, and audit readiness
Coordinate COBRA administration and vendor management
Manage leave of absence programs, including FMLA, CFRA, state disability, and paid family leave
Assist with claims resolution and serve as a liaison between employees and benefits providers
Maintain accurate records and ensure data integrity across HRIS and benefits systems
3+ years of experience in benefits administration, preferably in a multi-state environment
Strong knowledge of ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and related compliance requirements
Experience with leave of absence management, including FMLA, Disability, and CFRA
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in managing large volumes of sensitive data
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively address employee inquiries and resolve issues
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required

Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000
