POSITION: Human Resources Benefits Specialist STATUS: FULL-TIME


REPORTS TO: Human Resources Manager SALARY: $22.10/hr

POSITION SUMMARY


Responsible for the administration and implementation of the Mistequa Casino Hotel Medical, Vision, Dental, Life insurances alongside additional benefit programs available to eligible team members. Produce various reports as requested by management. Assist in the everyday functions of the Human Resources Department when necessary. Assist the HR Manager in administrative and implementation of HR programs as requested.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must be willing to work with all regulatory agencies, i.e., Gaming Commission, State, and Federal.

  • Must learn and ensure policies and procedures are being followed per the Internal Controls.

  • Must adhere to the Mistequa Casino Hotel team member Handbook.

  • Must adhere to our SMILE service standards and Core Values by providing excellent guest service. Maintain a positive and productive attitude with guests as well as fellow team members.

  • Maintains all team member medical files. Conducts general upkeep of all new, existing, and terminated files with confidentiality.

  • Prepare benefit material packets for eligible team members.

  • Notify team members eligible for insurance benefits in sufficient time essential to the original new hire 90-day requirements.

  • Obtain waiver of insurance from team members not taking part in any insurance offered.

  • Enter and maintain all benefit information into the ISolved HRIS system.

  • Prepare and organize mandatory open enrollment event.

  • Assist team members with questions or concerns regarding insurance coverage, claims, billing, or eligibility.

  • Responsible for appropriate processing of new enrollments, changes, and cancellations of all insurance plans.

  • Prepare, submit, inform, and assist team members with short-term disability applications, workman's compensation claims, accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity and life insurance claims within the timeline of each entity's requirements.

  • Post announcements and changes to any insurance benefits in the team member break room.

  • Attend benefit committee meetings as scheduled by the Spokane Tribe of Indians Benefits Specialist, Insurance brokers or 401k broker.

  • Maintain and update benefit packages as appointed by the Spokane Tribe of Indians.

  • Inform and assist any eligible team member in the TFML process. Monitor and communicate return dates to team members utilizing TFML leave.

  • Calculates team member insurance deduction per pay period in correspondence to the first pay period of the month insurance begins. Submit all deductions and adjustments to the payroll department using insurance change form.

  • Maintains team member monthly census for each insurance to be paid.

  • Submit all insurance statements and census to accounting department for payment on/or before due date.

  • Reconciles all insurance to be paid ensuring accuracy between the business, team member, and companies to be paid.

  • Prepares, completes, and submits Affordable Care Act (ACA) 1094-C and/or 1095-C reporting information into ISolved HRIS system.

  • Deliver completed ACA 1094-C and/or 1095C reporting form to all former, active and inactive team members.

  • Submits quarterly TERO reports to the Spokane Tribe of Indians TERO department and HR Manager.

  • Maintains and submits weekly and monthly team member reports to STGC and General Manager

  • Participates on the Title 31 committee.

  • Responsible for all team members taking and passing the annual Title 31 testing.

  • Responsible for recording and storing all title 31 tests each calendar year.

  • Assist the HR staff and Manager in proactively working towards the HR department goals and vision statement.

  • Assist HR Specialist with posting positions, interviewing and hiring.

  • Assist in team member appreciation activities by preparing, organizing and being present during all planned events.

  • Assists with preparation of special events as directed.

  • Assist in maintaining floor security by notifying Management and Security of suspicious activity.

  • Held accountable, to the highest degree, for the accuracy and thoroughness of departmental records and reports.

  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS



  • Must be 18 years of age.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Excellent organizational, planning and communication skills required.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Expertise with MS office (e-mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Must have the ability to create business correspondences, forms, reports, charts, and graphs.

  • Ability to be a team player.

  • Ability to work independently and use good judgment.

  • Operate office equipment such as photocopiers, facsimile machines, computers, and multifunctional office systems.

REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES


In addition to the other duties described herein, every team member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:



  • Must be 18 years of age to obtain and maintain a License C with Spokane Tribal Gaming Commission.

  • Attend required training sessions offered by the Casinos.

  • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.

  • Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.

  • Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the team member's department.

  • Consult Internal Control Procedures and Policy Manuals for guidance.

  • Report illegal activity to Security or the appropriate levels of Management.
