Humane Education Manager

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• BS or BA degree in education, science, or related field; teaching experience with grades K-8


• Knowledge of, interest and belief in humane issues required; previous experience working in the animal welfare field preferred.


• Demonstrated experience with developing curriculum for and presenting educational programs to school-aged children; knowledge of current educational trends.


• Previous experience with public outreach; experience working with school administrators, educators and civic groups preferred.


• Experience with/knowledge of animal behavior, training and handling preferred.


• Experience working with and managing volunteers preferred.


• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

• Must have technology skills – word processing; spreadsheets; database; electronic presentation; social media; internet navigation, etc.


• Must be highly organized, motivated, reliable, and able to multi-task and work well with a minimum of supervision.


• Must be able to handle all situations calmly and efficiently.


• Must possess the ability to convey a professional image, as well as represent the mission, goals and philosophy of The Humane Society of Tampa Bay in its relationship with the community.


• Must have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with students, staff, media, public school administrators and educators to perform the functions listed above.
