We're growing! Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, is hiring for a Humane Education Program Supervisor.

The Humane Education Program Supervisor is responsible for the implementation of educational opportunities that promote animal welfare, develop empathy and compassion, and support the mission of Lollypop Farm. This position is accountable for accomplishing department goals, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, and supporting the mission and vision of Lollypop Farm. The Humane Education Program Supervisor ensures the success of education programs through high-quality customer service, diligent program oversight, and effective collaboration with colleagues and volunteers. 

 Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 9 AM - 5:30 PM each day. 

Essential Job Duties 

• Supervises and supports a team of Educators in providing impactful, humane education programming to the highest standard. 
• Contributes to an inclusive culture of understanding and empathy, avoiding judgment toward participants, visitors, and other community members, and setting an example for the Education Team.
• Provides excellent and timely customer service, responding to customer inquiries and program requests. Manages ongoing relationships with key humane education program partners.
• Organized with strong attention to detail to coordinate logistics and administrative needs for all humane education programs to ensure successful and impactful programs. 
• Manages the education department’s program calendar and staff schedules. 
• Coordinate with the communications team to ensure timely program promotions, in collaboration with the Director.
• Provides consistent and timely communication, ensuring critical information is communicated to all relevant parties, including management, team members, and other departments. Effectively cascades information to the team and ensures all members are aligned with organizational objectives and goals. Prioritizes urgent matters and delivers necessary updates promptly.
• Utilizes the Humane Education Strategic Plan to, with the Director, research, develop, update, and implement various humane education programs and resources 
• Delivers presentations in-person and virtually to schools, youth groups, and community organizations, and coordinates humane education outreach efforts.
• Ensures the education areas and program materials are well-maintained in a neat, clean, and organized fashion. 
• Maintains department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with the Director. 
• Collaborates with the Director to ensure adequate staffing and volunteer support for the department. Assigns duties and evaluates the team for effectiveness. Provides coaching and disciplinary action as needed.
• Assist with preparing and adhering to the annual department budget. Provide revenue and expense reports to the department director as needed. 
• Facilitate department staff meetings along with the Director of Humane Education.
• Utilizes and promotes Fear-Free animal handling and positive reinforcement techniques when handling animals or incorporating animals into educational programming. 
• Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable state and federal laws.
• Observe all safety rules and regulations for self and others.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements

Education/Experience:  Associate degree in education or equivalent experience in youth service programs strongly preferred. Three years’ experience in customer service. Three years’ experience working with children. One – two years of supervisory experience strongly preferred. Experience with public presentations preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered if aligned with the position.

Skills: The ideal candidate will possess an optimistic attitude and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, they will be team-oriented, approachable, hard-working, and empathetic. Strong organizational skills. Ability to plan and organize presentations, communicating effectively before a group or one-on-one.  Ability to create and implement new programs and/or methods to instill humane education values. Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts. Must possess the ability to understand detailed and involved instructions and to apply common sense to carry out instructions, as well as the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Strong animal handling skills preferred. Strong animal handling skills preferred. Strong computer skills, such as Word and Excel; ability to learn internal software. Ability to learn to operate animal chip scanner, cash register, as well as use cleaning supplies. 

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position during shift, move throughout the building, and move weights up to 50 pounds. They are frequently required to communicate with others and occasionally move excessive weight.
